Seven weeks after Shakyamuni Buddha’s enlightenment which is commemorated during the 4th lunar month of Sagadawa, he was requested to teach by the gods, Brahma & Indra. As an offering, they presented auspicious symbols — a wheel and a conch — to mark the occasion of the “First Turning the Wheel of Dharma” on the 4th day of the 6th lunar month.
