Chamtrul Rinpoche
Chamtrul Rinpoche Lobsang Gyatso is the recognized reincarnation of the second Chamtrul Rinpoche, Pema Nangsel Dorje, who was one of the heads of the Mardo Tashi Choeling Monastery in Tibet. Rinpoche was conferred the title of “khenpo” Abbot by his root guru H.E. Jigme Phuntsok Rinpoche at Larung Gar Buddhist Institute in Eastern Tibet after many years of rigorous studies. Known for his nonsectarian approach, he has received the cycles of teachings, empowerments and transmissions from more than twenty-five accomplished masters and scholars from all four major traditions of Tibetan Buddhism. Through his knowledge and practical advice, Rinpoche compassionately guides his students towards ultimate peace and happiness.
My Heart’s Advice was written by Kyabje Khenchen Jigme Phuntsok, who founded Larung Gar in Eastern Tibet, which has grown to be the largest TIbetan Buddhist Monastic center. Jigme Phuntsok was one of the most influential lamas in contemporary Tibet, many modern Nyingma lamas follow his teachings. He visisted Nechung Dorje Drayang Ling in 1993.
This teaching captures the essence of the Buddhist path, beginning with basic foundations and continuing through the generation of the altruistic mind (bodhicitta) and the nature of self and phenomena.
“9. All the infinite teachings of the buddhas, so vast in number,
Are imparted purely as a means to subdue our own mind.
Don’t put your faith in words alone! I urge you once again:
Let the key points of the deeper meaning seep into your hearts!
15. All the three worlds' misery comes from wanting happiness for ourselves,
And all virtue and happiness is born of a mind that wishes others well.
So, following the example of the teacher of all gods and human beings,
Generate the supreme mind that is set upon unsurpassed awakening.”
